Canton Area Service Projects

  • Christmas Adopt-a-Family – Rho Xi Lambda provided gifts for a Canton mother and her five children on December 22, 2013.
  • Toys for Tots – The chapter helped gift recipients to transfer toys to their vehicles at the Jackson Convention Center on December 15, 2013.
  • World Aids Day – Rho Xi Lambda helped the Relevant Empowerment Church to provide AIDS testing for 27 people on December 1, 2013.
  • Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Project – Rho Xi Lambda served Thanksgiving meals for approximately 40 Joe Prichard seniors on November 27, 2013. The chapter also provided the residents with Aetna healthy recipes and voter ID information with their meals as well.
  • Faith-based Leaders Violent Crime Prevention – Rho Xi Lambda’s Brother Tony Yarber organized Jackson faith-based leaders to address a rash of Jackson metro area violent crimes in November and December of 2013.
  • Canton Canned Food Drive – Rho Xi Lambda donated approximately 100 canned goods to needy families on November 17, 2013.
  • Tymeka Anderson Fire Support – Rho Xi Lambda donated $180 in household goods to Mr. Anderson on November 17, 2013. She had recently suffered fire damage to her Canton home.
  • Illinois Tornados Relief – Rho Xi Lambda donated $50.00 to the Peoria division of the American Red Cross on November 24, 2013. This was in support of relief efforts for victims of tornados that hit Illinois on November 17, 2013.
  • Typhoon Haiyan Relief – Rho Xi Lambda donated $50.00 to the American Red Cross on November 14, 2013. This was in support of relief efforts for victims of the typhoon that struck the Philippines on November 8, 2013.
  • Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign and 11-12-13 Support – Rho Xi Lambda Brothers rang the Salvation Army bell for charity in December of 2013. The chapter also supported the charity’s 11-12-13 campaign weeks before in November of 2013.
  • Remembering Canton’s L.C. Greenwood – Rho Xi Lambda donated 70 memorial helmet stickers to the Canton High School football team on October 24, 2013, to honor the Pittsburgh Steelers legend who passed away on September 29, 2013.
  • KaBoom Playground Build – Rho Xi Lambda braved intense heat and humidity on June 10, 2013, and June 12, 2013, in Jackson to help construct G.N. Smith Elementary’s new playground.
  • United Way Day of Action – The chapter assisted Canton’s “Our Daily Bread Ministries” on August 24, 2013, with intense facility cleanup, canned goods organization and clothing sorting support.
