The Rho Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. ("Rho Xi Lambda," "the chapter," "we," "us," or "our") operates this website. This policy explains what information the site collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. Chapter membership records and internal fraternity business are governed separately by the policies of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and are not covered here.
What we collect
We collect information in two ways:
- Information you submit through the contact form. When you send us a message from the Contact page, we collect your name, email address, the topic you selected, and the contents of your message. Submissions are processed through a Google Forms endpoint and delivered to the chapter's inbox.
- Standard technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic request information — IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamps — in server logs. These logs are used to keep the site running and to investigate abuse. We do not use this information to build a profile of you.
We do not require you to create an account to use this site. We do not run advertising, marketing pixels, session-replay tools, or behavioral analytics.
How we use it
We use the information you submit to respond to your inquiry (membership, reclamation, partnership, foundation, press, or other). We may also use it to follow up on the same topic later if you asked us to. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your contact information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Third-party services on this site
A small number of trusted third parties help us operate this site. Their own privacy policies apply to the data they process:
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery. Vercel processes standard request logs as described above.
- Google Forms — receives and stores messages submitted through our contact form.
- Behold.so — powers the Instagram feed shown on our Gallery page. Photos are loaded from Behold's content delivery network when the page renders.
- Meta (Facebook & Instagram) — links to our social accounts open on Meta's platforms, which have their own privacy practices.
SMS and text messaging
Members and interested parties may opt in to receive text messages from the chapter — for example, chapter announcements, event reminders, meeting notices, and time-sensitive updates. The following privacy terms apply. Full SMS program terms are published in our Terms & Conditions.
- We do not share mobile information. Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in data are not shared, sold, or otherwise disclosed to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. This category of information is also excluded from any general data-sharing described elsewhere in this policy. Mobile information is only shared with the service providers strictly necessary to deliver the messages you have consented to receive (for example, our SMS provider).
- Message frequency. Message frequency varies based on chapter activity. On average, you may receive a handful of messages per month, with higher frequency around chapter events, meetings, or time-sensitive updates.
- Message and data rates may apply. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. The chapter does not charge for text messages.
- Opting out. You may opt out of chapter text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from the chapter. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at info@rhoxilambdaalphas.org.
- Consent. By providing your mobile number and opting in, you consent to receive text messages from the chapter as described above. Consent to receive text messages is not required as a condition of chapter membership or participation in chapter programs.
Cookies
The chapter's website itself does not set tracking cookies. Third-party embeds and services listed above may set their own cookies when their content loads or when you click through to them. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information through this site, please contact us so we can remove it.
Your choices
You can email us at any time to review, correct, or delete the information you have submitted through the contact form. We will honor reasonable requests unless we are required to retain the information for a legitimate reason (for example, an ongoing conversation or a legal obligation).
