SMS program terms

These SMS program terms apply to text messages sent by, or on behalf of, the Rho Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.. By providing your mobile number and opting in, you agree to these terms.

Program description

The chapter's text-messaging program is used to send chapter announcements, event invitations and reminders, meeting notices, service-project mobilization, and other chapter updates. Messages are sent by the chapter or by the chapter's messaging service provider on the chapter's behalf.

Opting in

You may opt in to receive text messages by providing your mobile number to the chapter through an approved opt-in method — for example, submitting a written or online form indicating that you agree to receive text messages, or texting a designated keyword to the chapter's number. Consent to receive text messages is not required as a condition of chapter membership or participation in chapter programs.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on chapter activity. On average, you may receive a handful of messages per month, with higher frequency around chapter events, meetings, or time-sensitive updates.

Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Charges depend on your mobile plan and carrier. The chapter does not charge for text messages, but your carrier may.

Opt-out (STOP)

You may opt out of the SMS program at any time by replying STOP to any message from the chapter. After you send STOP, you will receive a confirmation message and no further messages will be sent, except as required to complete transactions you have already initiated. You may re-subscribe at any time by opting in again.

Privacy

Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in data are not shared, sold, or otherwise disclosed to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Supported carriers & delivery

The program is available on major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is subject to your carrier's network conditions and is not guaranteed. You must be the account holder or have the account holder's permission to opt in a mobile number.

Age

You must be at least 13 years old to opt in to the SMS program. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent's or legal guardian's permission to opt in.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the website or the SMS program after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
